What
can I expect at Reproductive Services? Reproductive Services Centers are
located in attractive buildings in pleasant, centrally located neighborhoods.
When you arrive, you will have a secure place to park, find relaxed comfortable
surroundings that are very clean and professional with a friendly staff to assist
you. Since patients come to Reproductive Services for a variety of services, no
one will know the purpose of your visit. How safe is an abortion?
Abortions are among the safest and most frequently performed surgical procedures
in the U.S. today, and complications rarely occur. All possible risks and complications
will be fully discussed with you before the procedure as we thoroughly review
your health history and individual circumstances. Reproductive Services is prepared
through its years of experience and its high standards of quality and safety to
handle any unusual situation quickly and professionally should one arise. Who
will perform my abortion? A licensed and experienced physician will perform
the abortion, assisted by an able and well-trained staff. Believing in the highest
standard of quality and safety for our patients means that our physicians are
eminently qualified and respected by their colleagues in the healthcare community.
Experienced nurses and medical assistants work with the physician, and trained
counselors assist through offering the patient support before and after the procedure.
All together, our staff and physicians work as a team to provide you with quality
care and comfort. Will it hurt?
Since your comfort and safety
are our primary concerns, we offer local anesthesia in combination with an analgesic
gas. This method assists patients in relaxing during the procedure, and allows
them to return quickly to their normal activities. Does anyone have to know about my situation? An abortion
is a personal experience, which deserves the utmost privacy. Your name will not
be given to anyone, and in every way we are here to protect your confidentiality.
Reproductive Services protects patients' privacy before, during and after the
procedure. We also suggest that you bring your spouse or another trusted person
with you to the clinic, if their presence would be comforting. Parental
Notification: Most states, including Texas, require minors to inform
their parents of their intention to have an abortion. It is important for any
patient who is younger than 18 years old to talk with our clinic staff about how
we can help her to comply with the current law. How long will the abortion
take? Patients are in the clinic for several hours in order to be processed
for surgical or medical abortions. Actual surgery takes only a few minutes and
most appointments are completed in one day. When your pregnancy is more advanced,
another visit may be necessary on the following day to complete the procedure.
How much will it cost? Your individual circumstances and the
services required will determine the exact cost to you. Call the clinic you wish
to visit for a detailed list of fees along with payment terms and other information.
The cost of the medical procedure is very reasonable, especially when compared
to other outpatient surgery. However, if a patient is unable to pay the fee in
full, Reproductive Services will assist her in trying to identify additional resources
and programs. When comparing fees, be aware of seemingly lower prices offered
by less credible providers. Remember, our fee covers the cost of the physician,
medical staff, and the use of the facility, plus the following services:
- A medical examination and sonogram (ultrasound) to determine the length of
pregnancy.
- Counseling and education before and after the procedure.
- All
routine laboratory work, including testing for Rh factor.
- Local anesthesia.
- 24 Hour on-call medical assistance after leaving the clinic.
- Post-abortion
check-up.
- Post-abortion counseling if desired.
